I like to create all of my base materials in substance painter before adding further detail. I design each material to be an accurate representation of the material prior to any age or wear. These also have variants on levels of gloss/roughness etc. So I will create a rough matt black plastic as well as a glossy smooth black plastic. I can then apply these to whole areas of the vehicle which saves time and creates harmonious looking materials.
Update on textures so far. I've created the base materials shown above and am now starting to create specific details to each part. Working through second and third levels of detail.
The Miura has a lot of symbols and graphics across the vehicle. I had to create almost all of these by hand in Photoshop. A few of them I took directly from the internet (Lamborghini logo and bulls, referenced in my reference log). I'm most pleased with the speedometer dial as I had to spend a while creating this. Using the radial paint mode helped a lot and I painted all the lines in equal spacing and then painted in the rest of the elements around them. some of these graphics will be used at face value, others will be utilised as Alpha maps and this will normally depend on if the graphic requires a height element or not.
