Final Major Project : NSX GT3 Evo - Update 05

I'm really pleased that I've managed to progress through some tough areas on the car. I'm trying a new method of adding topology into places that I normally would not and I'm expecting this to pay off later in the project. An example of this is inside of the headlights. Until now I would have textured this area but that process has not been successful. Although it's taking longer to model these areas, and adding extra to the overall budget, I should get a cleaner and better result on the final render.

As you can see below I finally managed to create the rear arch panel. This did take me several attempts to achieve the correct body shape however I feel the end result was worth the time.

Another place that caused me difficulty was the pinch point where the roof connects to the rear arch (shown below). Especially as there is a hole cut out from the bodywork, just adjacent to this point. Trying to work out the topology flow was a challenge but I feel I have achieved the shape with good flow and now it will only require a small amount of clean-up towards the end.

Final Major Project : NSX GT3 Evo - Update 04

I've spent a lot of time trying to get the topology of the bodywork as clean as possible. There are still a few parts that need cleaning up but for the most part, I'm really pleased with the direction this model is going in. At this point, I'm currently at about 30k tris which is great and I don't feel the budget is going to be a problem.

Final Major Project : NSX GT3 Evo - Update 03

I have taken the approach of building the vehicle (for the most part) to a mid-poly budget. This means I won't be building a high-poly model and instead will only need to create a few high-poly pieces for the baking down process. I realised that with the Miura I spent a lot of time building a high-poly model that for the most part was redundant. The extra detail it added wasn't visible in a lot of places e.g. the bodywork. So this time I'm only going to create specific pieces that will benefit from the higher resolution.

The rear wheel arch has caused me a lot of problems. I've rebuilt the piece several times and for some reason, I can't get the accuracy of the piece down. I've decided to move onto the rest of the car and revisit this part at a later stage. By having more of the car in place I may better understand the flow of the bodywork.

Final Major Project : NSX GT3 Evo - Update 02

Today I've finished the blockout. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to complete it within the 5 days I set as the highest goal, but I was able to complete it within a week; half the time of the Miura. This was mainly due to lack of reference which I was surprised about. Being such a modern car I initially thought that photographs would be widely accessible. I was half right. Generic external photographs of the car were not hard to find, however, interior shots have proven to be very rare. Any I can find are driver views from the front seat that don't show very much. Most of the images have a very high contrast which means the sides and floor of the car show as black.
I have just about managed to piece together enough of the parts to create the block out, but creating the full interior is definitely going to prove a challenge. I feel that a lot of it will need to be created by a mixture of educated guesses and looking at other GT3 vehicles with similar designs.
