Starting this project I had to make a decision between which variant of the NSX I wanted to build. The 2017 NSX GT3 (right) or the 2019 NSX GT3 Evo (left). Researching into both these cars and creating this side-by-side comparison, the cars are visually very similar and only have a few discrepancies. Most of the changes are internal and to do with the engine, however, circled below are the splitter and diffuser changes made to the car, along with some parts of the aero body kit. I feel that the Evo has overall more interest in its design. With the addition of the splitters and blades in the bodywork, the otherwise dark/empty areas are broken up and given interest. I have decided to model the Evo, and due to these relatively subtle changes, I can collect references for both cars and then make sure the specific Evo details are included in the final model.
Below are screenshots of the collection of references I have gathered so far, although this will expand. I have separated out the to varients so that If I come across a discrepancy I know which car it belongs to. I have also utilised video games Project Cars and Assetto Corsa to get game-ready reference.
I have started by creating a blockout of the vehicle. This is about a days work so far and I am aiming to complete this within 5 days (as the Miura took me 2 weeks and I want to make sure to increase my workflow speed). This blockout is mainly to figure out the scale and position of the components, however it is also to understand the bodywork flow as the aerodynamics are quite complicated on this car.
