Final Major Project : Miura P400 SV - Update 11

Working through the back of the model, I've created the rear shell and boot lid. Following on from this I will be making the rear panel, tail lights, and rear shell slats/blades.

The tyre tread was made in the standard format of creating a single line of tread (shown below) of which I then duplicated using an array, welded together, and finally used a combination of bend and the FFD modifiers to create the curves in the tyre.

The main tyre wall and hub cap I created in a method I had not used before. Where I have gotten more confident using splines, I decided to create the pieces in this way. Shown below, I created the profile of the tyre and added the Lathe modifier. This, in my opinion is a superior way of creating a tyre as it allows for a non-destructive workflow and full editable capabilities.

Building the main hub cap element was a rather complex task, so I decided to simplify the shape down and create it with splines. However, this shape has lots of intersecting parts throughout the main body, so I will create these using edit poly and place the parts accordingly. I normally try to not use intersecting pieces as it doesn't hold true to the manufacturing process, however in this instance it would be more expensive in budget and time to try and replicate this exactly, for an overall small detail.
